High Efficiency Resonant Flyback Controller

An AC-DC controller is used to convert AC power into stable DC power. In the first step, the AC input is rectified into high DC voltage. A flyback controller is a simple switch-mode converter for AC to DC that works like a buck-boost controller, but uses separate inductors to form a transformer. Thanks to the transformer, input and output isolation is possible. It has a wide range of applications, ranging from small charger adapters (Power Adapter) to power supplies up to 150W.

The basic structure is Flyback, but it uses the transformer leakage inductance to form a resonance-like effect. If there is resonance, the voltage waveform will have a sine wave, and then the MOSFET will be turned on using the trough of the sine wave. At this time, the VDS at both ends of the MOSFET D-S are minimized which reduce switching loss and achieve high efficiency. Because this is a soft switching converter, only small EMI filters are needed.

Our QR Flyback controller integrates a high side MOSFET in the package and supports the switching MOSFET to work as ZVS (Zero Voltage Switching) mode. With its excellent features, our QR Flyback controller can support devices with a power rating of up to 150W.
